1n 1941, during World War II, M&M’s were created as a sweet treat for American soldier’s MRE’s (meals ready to eat.) The chocolate candies with a hard shell proved to withstand hot battlefield conditions, making them a beloved pleasure for soldiers. In 1947, Mars introduced M&M’s to the American public after soldiers, recently home from war, requested their favorite chocolate treat. M&M’s continues to be one of Americas’ most popular confections.
